The canines (eye teeth) normally erupt into the mouth between the ages of 11 to 13. Sometimes they need help coming in or need help because they have come in the wrong position. Without this procedure, the teeth would not erupt normally and could potentially cause damage to the roots of the adjacent teeth or could even push the adjacent teeth out of alignment.
Working in collaboration with your orthodontist, Dr. Hunt would push the gums back to expose the teeth below. After the procedure, you would go directly to your orthodontist where you will have a bracket and chain placed to help move the teeth into the correct position.
